The
purpose of a credit bureau is to gather information
about how consumers use credit. They assemble
information from as many consumer financial
transactions or inquiries as they can obtain.
Once this information is assembled, they sell access
rights to various companies who has a legally
recognized reason to view your information. Listed
below are the name, address, and toll free number of
the three major credit bureaus.

Each of these
credit bureaus computes a person’s credit score
slightly differently and they usually differ a few
credit points between credit bureaus. However,
it is extremely important that you monitor all three
companies and keep track of your credit score.
When you apply for credit, different companies
select a different bureau, therefore, it will save
you money if all information in each credit bureau
is up to date and accurate.
